Zendesk is retiring legacy custom objects, with creation of new legacy objects disabled as of January 15, 2026, and complete removal scheduled for July 27, 2026, requiring all customers using legacy objects to migrate to the new custom objects platform released in 2023. The migration involves a five-step process—mapping your existing structure, creating new objects with improved field types (dropdowns, multi-select, lookup fields), exporting legacy data via CSV, converting files using spreadsheet formulas and VLOOKUP functions, and importing via the Data Importer—which is labour-intensive but enables richer native integration with Agent Workspace, forms, reporting, and automation capabilities. Support is available through your Customer Success representative, Technical Account Manager, app developers, and Zendesk Professional Services to assist with the migration process.
