Agentic AI Set To Transform Airline Operations, Customer Service and Commerce

Agentic AI is moving from theoretical application to commercial deployment across airline operations, with a joint Amadeus and Microsoft report identifying five high-impact use cases already delivering measurable value. The technology differs fundamentally from traditional AI assistants in its ability to operate autonomously across multi-step workflows, making decisions and coordinating activities without human intervention at each stage. Airlines including Southwest, Icelandair and Azul are actively testing these systems in voice-based rebooking, operational decision support, digital commerce, marketing automation and personalization—with voice rebooking already mature enough for immediate commercial rollout.
